Preparing for IV Sedation

  • DO let our office know if your child becomes sick the week of their appointment, the sooner we know the better we can assess the symptoms and reserve another surgery date if needed.

  • DO let our office know if your child takes daily medication so that we can ask the doctor/anesthesiologist what their instructions are for the morning of your surgery.

  • DO NOT allow your child to eat or drink anything after midnight the night before their surgery.

  • DO dress your child in loose-fitting, comfortable clothing.

  • DO have your child wear a short-sleeve shirt as their bottom layer.

  • DO remove all jewelry or nail polish from your child before your appointment.

  • DO NOT plan anything else for the remainder of the day after your child’s surgery, you will need to closely monitor your child for many hours after they return home from our office.

  • DO plan to have two adults accompany your child to their surgery, this way one of the adults can attend to your child on the ride home.
